Description

The pilgrimage church at Nová Štifta is situated above the wide Ribnica valley. It was built in its present form between 1641 and 1671, and in 1780 the sacred steps were added. The interior of the church is typically Baroque with rich decoration and wooden carvings. A special feature of Nová Štifta are the four lime trees, two younger and two of quite venerable age. The largest one has a bower in its canopy, which can seat twenty people. The Franciscan monastery also has a monastery library and lending library.
